Why you can't just copy Orbis
>
It's a fair question. AI tooling has made software look cheap to build — so why couldn't someone spin up a clone of Orbis over a weekend? Because the part you can see is the small part. Orbis runs on a proprietary database of 275 million individuals and the algorithms developed to match them to businesses at scale. That is the moat.

The question
>
Couldn't someone just vibe-code Orbis? The visible surface makes it look plausible: a dashboard, a campaign flow, emails going out. Modern tools can scaffold all of that quickly, and we won't pretend otherwise.
>
But a sales platform isn't valuable because it has buttons. It's valuable because of who it can find, how accurately it verifies them, and how well it matches them to your business. And that value doesn't live in the interface — it lives underneath it.

What you can copy
>
You can copy the idea. You can copy the layout, the onboarding flow, the campaign wizard. You can stitch together sending tools, a sequencer and an enrichment API and produce something that resembles Orbis from the login screen.
-The interface — any competent team can rebuild a dashboard.
-The workflow — audience in, sequence out, replies handled.
-The pitch — autonomous outbound is a category now, not a secret.
>
What you'd ship is a shell that looks like Orbis and performs like nothing, because a clone starts with the one thing that matters missing: the data.

The data moat
>
Orbis operates on a proprietary database of 275 million individuals, sourced through our own discovery pipeline and continuously refreshed. That database is the product. Everything else — matching, verification, sending — exists to put it to work.

Even with perfect infrastructure, a copier still has to answer: who do you put in the database? Where do 275 million current, verified people come from? Shared, recycled lists are available to everyone — which is exactly why they produce the same burned-out results for everyone. The Orbis dataset was built, and is maintained, by methods we developed ourselves. It can't be downloaded, licensed or prompt-engineered into existence.

The algorithms on top
>
Data alone isn't the moat either — it's what the algorithms do with it. Orbis's matching and verification systems were developed against this dataset and refined over real campaigns: deciding which individuals are relevant to a given business, challenging every contact through multi-stage verification, and learning from what actually gets delivered and answered.
-Matching — proprietary algorithms that map a business's context to the individuals most likely to matter to it.
-Verification — multi-stage checks layered together so accuracy holds at database scale, not just on a sample.
-Iteration — accuracy at this level comes from sustained development against real sends, not from code you can scaffold in a sprint.
the uncomfortable part for copiers
You can approximate the software. You cannot approximate 275 million individuals plus the algorithms tuned on them — and without both, you don't have Orbis, you have a sending tool with an empty list.
SEC.05
Why scale compounds
>
Every campaign run through Orbis feeds the system: matching gets sharper, verification gets stricter, the data stays current. The gap between Orbis and a fresh clone doesn't stay constant — it widens, because one side is learning from live volume and the other starts at zero data and zero learning.
>
That's what makes it a moat rather than a head start. Infrastructure can be bought; a continuously refreshed proprietary dataset and the algorithms grown on it cannot.
SEC.06
What this means for you
>
You don't need to build any of this. As an Orbis customer you get the output of the moat — fresh, verified, relevant contacts matched to your business — from the first campaign you run.
Put 275 million verified individuals to work for your business.
